Guiding Principles

1. Each of us is responsible for our health and has direct influence to improve our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
2. We can improve our health at any moment by turning our choices towards mindfulness, altruism and exercise.
3. We believe that skills and competence are critical to sustained health and well being. The saying, “you can act your way into right thinking faster than you can think your way into right acting” is a maxim we support.
4. We believe that every participant is unique; no one size fits all. Only through a person’s direct experience do they know what works for them. We offer tools and skills but “take what you like and leave the rest”
5. We teach only what we know from our experience.
6. We believe that nothing is ever wasted. Everything you have experienced is useful to you in this endeavor for improved health and well-being. Mistakes and failures are only negative if you have not learned from them. Our job is to help you find the diamonds-in-the-rough of your past experiences as changing for the better.
7. We believe you can never go wrong with kindness. Your heart is the smartest organ in your body and it knows that generosity will make you feel better. Donate rather than over consume; that is our motto.
8. We believe that people are whole- that is physical, emotional, mental and spiritual beings and to be healthy and sustain progress it is imperative to integrate the four dimensions of wholeness.
9. We believe that  successful can be more effective attained in community, and with the help of like minded people who are committed to the journey of health improvement and sustained weight loss.
10. We believe that we learn best when we are able to find the beauty, humor, love and joy in life along with the darkness. We have a strong bias towards positive psychological approaches that see the magnificence of human nature.
